Merlin arrived at an equine sanctuary with his pasture-mate, Leona. But where Leona was human-phobic and self-protective through fighting, Merlin self-protected entirely through flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From being one of our earliest clicker-training subjects, Merlin has since graduated to being our \u201cschool horse.\u201d He is SO eager to learn, and is the most gentle and patient horse we could ask for to help teach clicker training to our students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Merlin transitioned from un-touchable to A#1 citizen without round-pen, rope, or whip. We used only clicker training, working in a 5-acre field, to teach Merlin to accept all husbandry work with confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s now impossible to walk across Merlin\u2019s near-field of vision without receiving a welcoming nicker, asking if perhaps it\u2019s time for some training.
