Merlin is an approximately 2005 QH x Arabian cross. Merlin arrived at an equine sanctuary with his pasture-mate, Leona. But where Leona was human-phobic and self-protective through fighting, Merlin self-protected entirely through flight.

From being one of our earliest clicker-training subjects, Merlin has since graduated to being our “school horse.” He is SO eager to learn, and is the most gentle and patient horse we could ask for to help teach clicker training to our students.

Merlin transitioned from un-touchable to A#1 citizen without round-pen, rope, or whip. We used only clicker training, working in a 5-acre field, to teach Merlin to accept all husbandry work with confidence.

It’s now impossible to walk across Merlin’s near-field of vision without receiving a welcoming nicker, asking if perhaps it’s time for some training. Find Merlin videos here.
